Because of the length of this temporary appointment which will be up to One year, it has health, welfare and retirement benefits.
THE POSITION
The City of American Canyon in the Napa Valley is seeking a temporary Civil Engineering Technician I to provide technical engineering work involving plan check and review; inspect a variety of private and public civil improvement projects; design and draft plans and maps; collaborate and confer with developers, architects, and engineers; and to perform a variety of support functions in the assigned area. The primary function of the current position will be to handle technical drafting and design work in the office with back-up assistance in the field. Some sample duties are: Update information on the city GIS Shape file using MAP 3D 2008 (or ARC Map); update or create Standard Plans and Details for Civil Improvement; receive and file improvement plans for out-sourced CIP projects (both paper and electronic). |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Education:
One year of full time experience in a civil engineering office performing drafting, surveying, construction management, and/or construction inspections.
License:
Requires a valid Class C Drivers License at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
